As a part of an ongoing speaker series, Sheree M. Mitchell, President of the American Society of Travel Advisors Chapter in Portugal, was invited by the Estoril Higher Institute for Tourism and Hotel Studies to provide current industry insight from the US perspective. Mitchell’s topic was centered on providing upscale tourism services and products to discerning high net worth North American travelers – a new topic for the students and an important inbound source market for Portugal.
Mitchell’s 90-minute presentation included a detailed overview of the tourism supply chain, the flow of goods and services, the roles of tour operators and DMCs, tourism product development, distribution channels, as well as innovative approaches to social sustainability.
Mitchell’s participation was pro-bono.
ASTA is the leading US-based advocate for travel advisors, the industry, and the traveling public. Its members represent 80 percent of all travel sold in the United States through the travel agency distribution channel. ASTA was founded in New York City in 1931 and currently has 27 international chapters around the world.
