A fresh new look for The Ritz-Carlton, Doha

After 11 months, The Ritz-Carlton, Doha is unveiling the stylish results of the first phase of the QR20 million (US$5.5 million) soft refurbishment project that encompasses the hotel’s 374 guest rooms and suites, Lobby Lounge, Grand Lobby and Executive Club Lounge.

“We are very excited about the new look and textures of the hotel,” says General Manager Pep Lozano. “The refurbishments, from the lobby to the deluxe rooms to the Amiri Suite, have greatly enhanced our standard of luxury and set The Ritz-Carlton apart from the competition. The redesign was reflective of the distinctive representation of Arabic history and culture, and we are positive that it will have a positive impact on our guests’ experience.”

“Although Qatar National Hotels has continually invested in The Ritz-Carlton, Doha for many years, we felt it was an opportune time to enhance completely the rooms’ product with a sizeable investment,” says Jan-Poul De Boer, chief executive officer of Qatar National Hotels. “Our goal was not only to add value for the hotel guests but also to the city of Doha and Qatar’s tourism and hospitality sector. By dramatically improving the quality on a regular basis, we ensure that The Ritz-Carlton maintains its positioning as one of the best hotels in the nation.”

In keeping with the hotel’s original colour and design themes, interior designer Pascale Julian of Qatar National Hotels updated the colour palettes and textiles of silk, velvet, and suede from well known international luxury brands such as Lelievre (France,) Zimmer and Rhode (Germany,) Rubelli (Italy) and Edelman (United States of America.) Guests will get a first glimpse of the new look when they enter the Grand Lobby, with its show-stopping, sparkling, two-meter high Viennese Baakowitz Swarovski crystal chandelier, and the stylish contemporary Italian textiles that are elegantly fitted on all the custom-made furniture.

Bespoke carpeting from Ireland, in vibrant vermillion, cobalt, violet, emerald and gold, complement the well-appointed furnishings of the guest rooms and suites. Guests in the newly refurbished rooms will be comfortably ensconced in the new signature bed linens, glowingly lit by Italian lamps, and elegantly surrounded by luxuriant drapes. In terms of communication technology, all guest rooms and suites now feature wide-screen LCD TVs, wireless internet access and iPod docking stations to further enhance guest experiences.

Guests wishing to experience a greater level of exclusivity may experience The Club Lounge overlooking The Ritz-Carlton Marina and turquoise sea. This is where they may enjoy the five daily food presentations, a private meeting room, and complimentary internet access, all in the comfortably elegant setting highlighted by the new gold silk lounges, plush crimson and silver backed chairs and plum velvet furnishings.

Soaring 115 meters above Qatar’s sea and desert landscape, The Ritz-Carlton, Doha is an impressive symbol of the nation’s emergence as a destination for travelers to the Middle East. The hotel fuses contemporary styling with classic Arabic and European design, creating a hotel with a promise of setting a new benchmark for luxury and sophistication in the region. Located on its own exclusive island in prestigious West Bay Lagoon, the hotel has sweeping views of the Arabian Gulf.
