Gallaher provides integrated security for historic Farragut Hotel renovation

Leading life safety and asset protection solutions provider contracted by Dover Development to provide integrated systems for the new Hyatt Place hotel that opened in December.

KNOXVILLE, TENN. – Gallaher, the region's leading life safety and asset protection solutions provider, was contracted by Dover Development, Knoxville's leading historical building developer, to provide fire alarm, camera surveillance, security, video intercom and TV infrastructure for the new Hyatt Place hotel in the historic Farragut building on Gay Street in downtown Knoxville.

This marks the 11th project that Gallaher has worked on with Dover.

"As a result of working with Dover in the past, we were able to bypass the traditional trade routes to provide a valuable, cost-effective solution," said Breck Ellison, COO at Gallaher. "With this being a renovation of a historic building, the process is different than new construction or a typical renovation. It was absolutely important that the integrity of what was originally built not be diminished or lost. We average a handful of historic projects a year in Knoxville, and our expertise allowed us to navigate that environment to deliver an integrated safety and security solution as though it was new construction."

In addition to the integrated systems that were installed, Gallaher will also be providing 24/7 monitoring for the building as well.

"We started at first with just the fire alarm system only," Ellison said. "However after the project got going, economy of scale became a point of value. We were able to add the other systems as the project went on, including a programmable camera system that provides intelligent analytics and customized, automated notifications. We will also be providing reliable, secure monitoring services for the hotel through our proprietary IntelliG mesh radio system."
