The Landmark London completes

The …

The £4 million programme to renovate the bedrooms at The Landmark London will be complete in  mid-June 2004.

Designed by US based interior design firm, Hirsch Bedner Associates (HBA), the newly appointed guest rooms are
luxurious and elegant, with classic overtones. Featuring soft tactile fabrics in a subtle colour scheme of golden beiges, soft yellows and blues, the decor creates a warm and welcoming environment.

The refurbished bedrooms feature the latest in modern technology with interactive television systems, and high-speed email and Internet access, which is operated by wireless keyboards. The doorbells to each room can now be muted by guests, while laptop safes and electronic “Do Not Disturb” buttons come as standard in all the newly designed rooms.

The large white marble bathrooms feature separate baths and shower cubicles. The majority of them also boast double vanity units. Additional bathroom touches include weighing scales, slippers, luxurious bathrobes and fluffy white towels.

Before the refurbishment commenced The Landmark London undertook 18-months of research into the design of the guest rooms. This required regular guests and staff to express their views and opinions on prototype rooms. The main finding from the research was that the positioning of the light switches was impractical. This has now been rectified in all the new rooms, and they have been rewired so that one light switch at the front entrance to the room, and one beside the bed can operate the lighting of an entire room.

The survey also included major research into the most important aspect of any hotel bedroom – the mattress. Over 20 mattresses were tested with the Sleepeasy Beauty Rest Deluxe coming out top. This is now fitted as standard in all the bedrooms.

General Manager of The Landmark London, Francis Green said: “As one of the UK`s leading hotels we are always looking to improve our service and amenities and are constantly upgrading the property. We wanted to create rooms which really work and although the bedrooms were not in need of refurbishment we took the decision to renovate to ensure that our in-room technology and design exceeds our customers expectations within a highly competitive marketplace”.
