New PwC survey: 70% of travelers approve of vaccine verification

Loyalty is up for grabs: 60% of respondents said the most important reason for switching is better pricing, offers or packages. But most of all, they want flexibility after a year of uncertainty.

Summer travel starts this weekend and PwC’s Traveler Sentiment Survey has new research on the trends to watch & the biggest consumer priorities.

A few highlights:

  • Vaccine verification is more popular than you think: 70% of respondents favor vaccination verification. Moreover, more than half support policies that would prevent those without proof of vaccination from traveling.
  • Consumers aren’t spending their stimulus checks on travel (yet): 3% have already spent that money on travel while more than half saved it. Of those, only 15% plan to spend on travel.
  • Loyalty is up for grabs: 60% of respondents said the most important reason for switching is better pricing, offers or packages. But most of all, they want flexibility after a year of uncertainty.
  • Business travel will be back soon (whether we’re excited or not): Some 40% of business travelers believe they will meet or exceed pre-pandemic levels of business travel by the end of 2022. However, 75% are unexcited about or are indifferent to traveling again for work.
