Digi.travel Cyprus Conference & Expo kicks off today from the Filoxenia Conference Centre in Nicosia. Organized for the first time, in co-operation with the Association of Cyprus Travel Agents, this session puts technology providers alongside travel and hospitality professionals for networking, business intelligence, and problem-solving.

According to the conference’s stated mission, Digi.travel Cyprus aims to facilitate business among the international travel technology providers and the travel industry of the region; to inform on latest trends in tech, and to present best practices going forward.

Plateno Group Europe’s Tomasz Janczak (feature image, on the left), commented to Argophilia Travel News on Plateno’s big moves in the region: "From the first days of the operation, Plateno was always focused on brand, marketing and distribution. Our expertise was always hospitality, that’s why we see a great opportunity in collaboration with Cyprus’ hoteliers in promoting this beautiful destination on the Chinese market. As the Cyprus Tourism Organisation suggests, there are plans to bring 400 000 Chinese travelers to Cyprus, and our Plateno Connect platform is one definitive tool for achieving this goal.”

Among the other key people attending this conference are:  Vicky Karantzavelou (top center), Co-founder – Travel Media Applications; Ntinos Kakkouras, ACTA’s President; Michel De Blust is the Secretary General of ECTAA; and Stelios Himonas, Permanent Secretary at Ministry of Energy, Commerce, Industry and Tourism, Cyprus; and Yiannis Michaelides (top right) – Director General of ACTA. Decision makers from Google, Amadeus, IATA, IBM and other key companies are also offering up the latest intelligence for their Cyprus counterparts.

The conference continues throughout the day in Nicosia.
