Fears over lost luggage and airport chaos at Easter compels some holidaymakers to fly private

Holidaymakers to swap airport queues and lost luggage for private jets this Easter

Private jet company, Jet Republic, is experiencing a peak in enquiries about its Private Jet Card programme in the lead up to the Easter break. The new European private aviation company believes that holiday-makers’ desire to minimise travel time and maximise leisure time, particularly on a short break, is being fuelled by reports that there will be chaos at the UK’s major airports this Easter.

The media is reporting predictions of substantial delays across UK airports when the Home Office introduces a new security system this Easter. In addition, the Air Transport Users Council (AUC) this week revealed that the problem of ‘mishandled’ luggage was the worst it had been in recent years. As a result, Jet Republic has seen the level of enquiries about its Card Membership programme jump by 65 per cent in the most recent two-week period (4 – 17 March 2009) compared with the previous two-week period (25 February – 3 March 2009).

Jonathan Breeze, CEO of Jet Republic said: “We have seen a marked increase in the number of incoming calls regarding our Private Jet Card programme since reports started to appear in the media of potential airport delays over the Easter period.  We expect this to escalate in the coming weeks, following the AUC revelation, as concerns over delays are compounded by fears about commercial airlines losing luggage.

“When you consider that many British holiday-makers have just four days with which to enjoy an Easter escape, it’s easy to see why they might be contemplating investing in a Private Jet Card programme right now.  Even under normal circumstances private jet travel shaves approximately three hours off a scheduled airline itinerary, never mind when delays and the implications of lost luggage are taken into account.

“Despite the economic doom and gloom, when faced with spending potentially half of their four-day break waiting in airport queues and worrying about lost luggage; it seems that, for many Brits, the flexibility and time-saving advantages of flying private are winning out.”
