United Airlines celebrates new service between Washington Dulles and Dublin

United Airlines welcomed government officials from Ireland and VIP guests to its Washington hub, Dulles International Airport, to celebrate the launch of the airline’s new daily nonstop service between Washington and Dublin Airport.

Ambassador of Ireland to the United States H.E. Michael Collins, United Vice President of Hubs and Line Stations Fernie Lopez, Vice President of Marketing-USA for Tourism Ireland Alison Metcalfe and Metropolitan Washington Airport Authority President and CEO Jack Potter will address customers and guests before joining other community leaders in a ceremonial ribbon-cutting at the gate to officially begin service to Dublin.

"We are delighted today to celebrate our new service between Washington and Dublin and connect these vibrant capital cities," said Sharon Pierce, United’s director of sales for Washington. "Our launch of this service speaks volumes to our commitment to offer travelers in the Washington area more domestic and international service than any other airline."

"United’s new nonstop service from Washington to Dublin is a significant development in helping draw people in Ireland and the United States closer together, whether for business, leisure travel or both," said H.E. Michael Collins. "I wish United every success with the new route and I know that Ireland looks forward to extending a hearty ‘Cead Mile Failte’ – 100,000 Welcomes – to all our visitors from the United States."

United will operate the service using Boeing 757-200 aircraft featuring 169 seats – 16 flat-bed seats in United BusinessFirst and 153 in United Economy, including 45 Economy Plus seats with added legroom and increased personal space.

United offers customers nearly 300 flights from Washington Dulles and serves more than 30 international airports, including those in Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Latin America and the Caribbean. In May, United launched new service from Washington Dulles to Doha, Qatar and Manchester, U.K. United will also begin a new daily nonstop service between Washington Dulles and Honolulu beginning June 7.
