Since the end of 2010, Reunion Island Tourism has been inviting travel netizens to Facebook, the world’s largest social network. In May 2013, 100,000 fans are onboard to explore and discover “island travel.”

According to the barometer of the performance of tourist destinations by the “We like Travel” social media agency, in April 2013, the Francophone Facebook to Reunion Island Tourism page ranked in the top 5, along with French regional destinations to the French Riviera, Tahiti, and Martinique.

It also occupies a special place in the hearts of the islanders since climbing into
fifth place in the standings of these Facebook pages [Source: ShoorK, April 2013], and remains in the first position of the pages on the Vanilla Islands (Reunion, Mauritius, Seychelles, Madagascar, Mayotte, and the Comoros).

The ever-growing community of fans of the island of Reunion shares daily their unique experiences around the destination, with its desert volcanic soils, lush natural sites over 40% of the island which are inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list, a transparent lagoon, and the meeting of cultures between Africa, Asia, and Europe.
