MIA adds new flights to San Diego and paris in June

American Airlines launches Miami-San Diego route; XL Airways France set for June 28 start.

MIAMI – Miami International Airport welcomed the inaugural flight of new daily non-stop service to San Diego by American Airlines, making San Diego the third destination in California with non-stop service from MIA in addition to Los Angeles and San Francisco. The daily flight with Boeing 737-800 aircraft that seats 150 passengers is currently the only air service between the two cities.

Also scheduled this month is the first flight by XL Airways France from Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris to MIA on June 28, with service three times per week on Airbus A330-200 aircraft thereafter. Miami is the fourth U.S. destination and 16th worldwide for the airline, which is based in Cedex, France.

“The continued expansion of hub carrier American Airlines and the addition of new carriers like XL Airways demonstrate the ongoing appeal of Miami International Airport as a global hub and the gateway to Miami-Dade County,” said Miami-Dade Aviation Director Emilio T. Gonzalez.
