NEW YORK – The charm, history and culture of China's ancient capital city of Beijing will be in the US spotlight once again – this time at the New York Mets Citi Field this Labor Day weekend.
On Saturday September 3, 2016, the Beijing Municipal Commission of Tourism Development will host "Charming Beijing, An Incredible Tourism Destination with An Evening of Chinese Culture," at the New York Mets Citi Field in conjunction with a MLB baseball game Mets vs. Nationals.
This year's theme focuses on celebrating the rich historical and cultural background of China's capital city and promoting Beijing as a world renowned travel destination among American tourists. Before the NY Mets take on the Washington Nationals for Saturday night's baseball game, traditional Chinese dance performances will be featured live on stage at Citi field Plaza at 5:30 p.m.
During the game, a variety of videos will display on the stadium's LED screens to highlight Beijing, China as a premiere global travel destination, bringing attention to the city's top attractions.
In addition to Beijing's seven UNESCO world heritage sites, Beijing's other attractions include ancient Chinese style streets, alleys, and temples which allow travelers to catch a glimpse of the city's colorful past and its imperial style parks, cozy courtyard residences and famed Peking style cuisine that fascinate international travelers who pour into the city every year.
The cultural festivities on Saturday will extend to outside the stadium where event organizers present a cultural tourism booth to introduce China's vibrant culture and Beijing's rich ancient history to American baseball fans with a variety of complimentary surprises and Beijing travel information.
Beijing is the capital city of China that converges at the crossroads of ancient China and a modern metropolis. The story of Beijing began over 3,000 years ago and continues to unfold today as its rapid development matures into a globally prominent city.
The event is organized by the NY Mets and the Sino-American Friendship Association.
