The growth of SITE Membership is due in large part to the success of its 30 chapters. The flourishing chapters are a direct result of the expansion of the incentive and travel industry. Since 2002, SITE has presented awards to chapters who directly contribute to the development of the organization and to the industry.

During the SITE International Conference in November, five chapters received awards for their efforts in 2005. Chapters were required to submit an application on the merits of their programs and award winners were selected by the Chapter Leadership Council in the categories of Education, Special Events, Membership, Wild Card (runner up to the Chapter of the Year) and Chapter of the Year.

Receiving the awards were:

  • Education – SITE Chicago

  • Membership – SITE Great Britain

  • Special Event – SITE Ireland

  • Wild Card – SITE Canada

  • 2005 SITE Chapter of the Year – SITE Southern California

This outstanding group is committed to working on new initiatives to bring value to their members and raise awareness of SITE within the industry. The chapter’s theme for 2005 was Reaching Out with SITE SoCal. To facilitate this theme, the chapter committed to a number of goals including, donations to FutureSITE; providing scholarships to hospitality students; support for the victims of the Asia-Pacific Tsunami; working with Meeting Professionals International; support of other SITE chapter events and finally their Holiday Charity event, which raised more than $80,000 USD.Tickets for this event sold out in only 37 minutes!

“Our very best congratulations to the members of these fine chapters, said SITE President Bill Boyd, CMP, CMM, CITE. Mr. Boyd is also President of Sunbelt Motivation & Travel, Inc., Dallas, Texas. We are so proud of these volunteers for their hard work, creativity and dedication to the travel and incentive industry, said Boyd.

Due to the continued growth and success of the chapters, SITE has designated dollars from its FutureSITE capital campaign to directly support that growth. The dollars will support On-Line Registration, Chapter Learning Modules, and Education Presentations. These initiatives are funded by the FutureSITE general fund and specifically by Hilton Hotels Corporation.

“The growth of our chapters is being noticed by others, as evidenced by the FutureSITE dollars dedicated to chapter initiatives, and the industry is also obviously noticing” said SITE CEO, Brenda Anderson. “We owe a great, big ‘thank you,’ to our chapter leaders and the Hilton Hotels Corporation for their dedication,” she continued.
