BERLIN – The international travel agency network Schmetterling, with more than 3.500 independent travel agencies in Europe, cooperates with the long distance coaches and shuttle bus GDS Distribusion Technologies. Launching today, more than 3 million bus rides in Europe are now bookable in the Schmetterling price comparison system Schmetterling Vanessa, the CRS system Schmetterling Neo and the Mid- and Backoffice technology Schmetterling Argus.

With the cooperation, Schmetterling extends its portfolio with bus products and provides their travel agents with a solution to book bus rides of multiple providers in one single system. Travel agents will be able to book a large number of long distance coaches and shuttle bus services. The portfolio covers more than 60 bus operators with rides to more than 1.500 destinations in Europe.

Distribusion has been integrated with a new, separate bus tab within in the consulting and price comparison system Schmetterling Vanessa. Selected rides will be transferred into the in-house CRS Schmetterling Neo and can be directly booked. With this technical evolution, customer consulting and ticket booking will be clearly faster and simplified for travel agents.

“Long distance coaches are now part of residential travel agency sales” commentated Anya Muller-Eckert, General Manager of Schmetterling the unique technical solution provided by the pacesetter in Travel Technology. “Thanks to the cooperation with Distribusion, our travel agency partners are now able to book various bus services at low costs and effort. The automatic transfer of bookings to the Schmetterling Argus mid- and backoffice system ensures a very convenient handling for travel agents and leads to lowest possible processing time for bookings.“

Also Distribusion is convinced that both sides will benefit from the cooperation since “buses are a great product to generate additional earnings for travel agencies. Due to the large number of direct city connections, buses are very versatile and flexible to use for travelers all around the world. With bus products, travel agencies can easily offer a complete door-to-door travel experience” comments Julian Hauck, founder and CEO of Distribusion.
