Axon Airlines to create handling subsidiary

One of the areas where recently-launched Axon<.> Airlines intends to invest additional funds this year is in the passenger and ground handling services sector. The Greek private carrier has forwarded to government authorities the appropriate application for approval to set up operations at Athens and Thessaloniki airports. (Airport and passenger handling services at Greek airports, up until January of this year, had been a monopoly of Olympic Airways.)
Thomas Liakounakos, chairman of Axon, says his carrier has invested heavily in the air transport sector and will continue to so. In May of next year, the company says it will begin flying domestic routes. It does not overrule cooperation agreements with the state carrier Olympic or with private carriers flying the domestic network.
Axon executes scheduled flights from Athens to Rome, Milan, Brussels and Thessaloniki with two new generation Boeing 737-700s.
