BBC World has teamed up with World Travel Market in London to partner its Ministers’ Programme – now in its second year. Last year the programme, on the opening day of the global business-to-business event, attracted more than 100 Tourism Ministers, Ambassadors and High Commissioners.

“Working with BBC World is a natural choice for the World Travel Market”, said Fiona Jeffery. “The channel provides unmatched, impartial, in-depth analysis of world news for viewers across the globe. BBC World is one of the few global organisations able to connect viewers worldwide, what ever their culture or religious beliefs.”

“World Travel Market has many of the same values, helping industry professionals from 202 representing countries and regions to come together to network, conduct business and learn about the very latest trends and developments. Like the World Travel Market, BBC World is also committed to the travel industry through its award-winning programming such as FASTRACK and extensive sponsorship and advertising campaigns.”

Jeffery continued: “The Ministers’ Programme is still a new concept for World Travel Market, but a very important one that we are planning to expand in future years. It means we can honour and acknowledge the vital contribution of Tourism Ministers to the international travel and tourism industry and, in a modest way, assist them by creating a stimulating and more enjoyable business environment.”

BBC World’s FASTTRACK will be filming at the Ministers’ Reception on Monday 6 November, hosted by Fiona Jeffery and Baroness Anelay of St. Johns DBE, chairman of World Travel Market’s Advisory Council. The exclusive invitation-only reception will this year take place on the Silver Sturgeon river boat, moored close to the main entrance to ExCeL London, where World Travel Market takes place.

BBC World’s Director of Airtime Sales, Jonathan Howlett said: “As the leading international channel for travelers for the second year in a row*, it makes sense for BBC World to team up with the World Travel Market. Issues surrounding travel and tourism are important to BBC World and to our weekly audience of 65 million viewers. BBC World also works with tourism boards and Government organisations from more than 30 countries to help them promote their destinations to audiences around the world. We are delighted to continue our association with the World Travel Market this year by partnering with the Ministers’ programme.”
