Sadler’s Wells completes refurbishment of multi-purpose event space

Sadler’s Wells Theatre in Islington announces the completion of a newly refurbished event space.

The Kahn, situated behind the adjoining newly named Fox Garden Court Café, has been upgraded to provide a flexible space that makes the most of the natural light. The space has been designed with maximum flexibility in mind so that the room scheme can be changed to suit corporate, artistic and private events.

Ideal for events, board meetings, workshops and seminars for small to medium sized groups of up to 56 theatre style, or 25 boardroom style, The Kahn has a total floor area of 60sqm.

The fully accessible space at Sadler’s Wells is now equipped with brand new stylish furniture, a plasma screen with built-in PC, a portable PA system and full wi-fi access. The area’s collapsible walls adjoining the café can be adjusted to suit the event to incorporate an elegant catering offering.

Kelly McGibney, Events Executive (Corporate) at Sadler’s Wells comments: “Each area has been designed to be flexible with the versatility to cater for all types of events from corporate to artistic and private gatherings. We are fully focused on upgrading the technology and we have also introduced energy saving LED lighting and other green features. We are also committed to ensuring accessibility for all.”

With its clever use of natural light and modern flexible space, the Kahn is ideal for daytime events and an excellent addition to the current choice of newly refurbished rooms and spaces at Sadler’s Wells,” adds Kelly.

The improvements follow last year’s £7.3m refurbishment programme at Sadler’s Wells which focused on upgrades to the theatre’s technologies, events spaces and key sustainability initiatives.  These improvements are expected to see an estimated 12 per cent reduction in carbon emissions.

This latest refurbishment has been supported by the Edwin Fox Foundation in memory of Michele Fox, the late dancer, choreographer and filmmaker. The adjoining café, previously called the Garden Court Café, has been renamed The Fox Garden Court Cafe in honour of the dancer who died nearly 20 years ago.
