The Digi.travel Cyprus International Conference was of a great success

The aim of the conference was to inform attendees on the optimum use of technological solutions offered nowadays, in order to develop their business.

NICOSIA – Digi.Travel Cyprus International Conference, which concerns e-tourism and was held in Cyprus, noted great success.

The Digi.Travel Conference was organized at the initiative of the Association of Cyprus Travel Agents (ACTA) with the co-operation of Travel Media Applications (TMA) and was attended by more than 120 people, including travel agencies, hotel managers, airline representatives and executives of the tourism industry.

The conference was opened by Mr. Michel De Blust, the Secretary General of ECTAA. The impressive line of keynote speakers included Mr. Ntinos Kakkouras, the President of ACTA, Mr. Stelios Himonas, Permanent Secretary at Ministry of Energy, Commerce, Industry and Tourism of Cyprus, Mr. Panos Fotiadis, Director of Travel Media Applications, Mr. Haris Linardakis, ΙΒΜ Cloud Leader, of Greece and Cyprus, Mr. David Rutnam, International Air Transport Association (IATA), Manager New Distribution Capability Regional Implementation, Mr. Pawel Wos, Business Development Manager at Distribusion, Mr. Edouard Le Lesle, BU Consultant at Amadeus, Mr. Dimitris Kossyfas, Travel Manager at Google, Mr. Thomas Landen, Marketing Manager for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa at Revinate, Mr. Tomasz Janczak, E-Commerce & Distribution Director for Plateno Group Europe and Mike Hill, Senior Copywriter at Panadvert.

More specifically, Mr. David Rutnam talked about the changes to be made, in the near future, in the distribution of airline tickets. Mr. Edouard Le Lesle, BU Consultant at Amadeus, presented to the tour operators and the hoteliers, the future traveler, giving a good description of his requirements. Mr. Thomas Landen, Marketing Manager of Revinate, helped with his knowledge to understand the best ways of brand management of tourist business on the internet in order to attract more customers, while Mr. Pawel Vos presented the innovative electronic platform “Distribusion”, which offers travel agencies the ability to use electronic booking for Public Transport and coaches for any tourist land transport.

The conference focused also among others on the Chinese market, which was presented by Mr. Thomas Janczak – eCommerce Director, Plateno Group highlighting the specific characteristics and requirements of this market. Mr. Mike Hill, from Panadvert also presented an interesting roundup of digital trends of 2017 with emphasis in the hotels and how to achieve their best possible penetration in the online marketplace.

The aim of the conference was to inform attendees on the optimum use of technological solutions offered nowadays, in order to develop their business.

The conference speakers covered general information issues and set the tone of trends and specific issues concerning not only the tourist offices, but also the hotels. It is worth mentioning that the International Conference Digi.travel has already been held several times in Greece, Poland, Sweden, and Thailand

Given the great success of the conference, and the need for constant updating in a time when  developments in the technology sector are rapid, the ACTA has decided to conduct the Digi.travel Conference annually in Cyprus, inviting also tourism professionals from the Middle East. So for 2017 delegates from each one of the neighboring countries of Cyprus are also expected to take part, making Cyprus a reference point for the latest news about e-tourism.
