LONDON, UK – The five-star Corinthia Hotel London, located in the heart of the city, has launched a city to country stately home experience exclusively for its guests. A day’s outing to an English country estate, Petworth House, where Corinthia guests can go hunting for game, be offered a tour of the ancestral home of Lord and Lady Egremont, see the largest private collection of artwork by Turner, and enjoy a typical English Afternoon Tea in the countryside.
The day begins with an early morning pick up from the hotel in Whitehall Place (Range Rover or helicopter options available) to the Petworth estate in West Sussex, only a one hour and fifteen minutes’ drive.
Head Keeper/Deer Manager David Whitby greets guests in the gun room. Participants are fitted with everything from hearing protection to cartridges and guns.
The day includes a morning of simulated game shooting followed by an afternoon drive of live game, the type depending on the time of year. October to January focuses on birds such as pheasants, April to September is simulated stalking and shooting live deer when available. Accompanied fly-fishing for rainbow or brown trout with tuition where required is available on the estate’s rivers or eight lakes in summer.

Between the rough and ready world of hunting and shooting across the estate, an incredible breakfast and picnic lunch (depending on weather) and afternoon tea are included in the day, prepared on the estate by Corinthia’s Executive Chef Garry Hollihead and delivered to guests by butlers and estate staff. On cold days, food is served in the shooting lodge. The autumn menu typically revolves around game and food such as wild mushrooms or chestnuts foraged on the estate.
At the end of the day, guests may be given oven-ready game birds, fish and/or venison, which Corinthia London can prepare for their dinner when they get back to the hotel in the evening.
The exclusive day in the country is the brainchild of Corinthia’s Executive Chef Garry Hollihead and his long-time friend Petworth Head Keeper David Whitby. Hollihead is a champion of British-sourced game and artisan foods.
Non-hunting Corinthia guests can also enjoy a day at Petworth with a guided tour of the main house (which houses the largest private collection of Turner paintings), horse and cart tour of the estate (weather permitting), and a look around the plethora of local antique shops.
