Tripology publishes consumer travel trends

The average trip budget for Tripology users for trips planned in Q1 2014, was $4,983. This is higher than the average amount Americans spent on all vacations in 2013 according to MRI, $4,813, suggesting that consumers who use travel agents do so when planning a vacation far more expensive than the average.

Tripology unveils its most recently published consumer travel trends offering travel agents valuable information about where travelers are looking to go now and in upcoming months.

Data regarding requested regions for national and international travel, trip budgets and most-requested areas for travel are included in the report.

Here are the key findings:

  • Florida remains the most-visited state in the country, regardless of the season.
  • During the Winter of 2014, as the Polar Vortex was at its peak, consumers dreamed of travel to warmer climes, with Florida (33% of requests), Nevada (19%), Hawaii (16%) and California (12%) the four most popular states by request.
  • Global travel planning followed a similar trend, with Mexico (22% of requests), The Bahamas (17%) and Jamaica (11%) comprising the top three most-requested destinations by Tripology users.
  • The average trip budget for Tripology users for trips planned in Q1 2014, was $4,983. This is higher than the average amount Americans spent on all vacations in 2013 according to MRI, $4,813, suggesting that consumers who use travel agents do so when planning a vacation far more expensive than the average. This was also an 8% increase from Q1 2013 ($4,595), suggesting consumer optimism is on the rise.
  • Key West and Arizona appeared in the top ten most-requested U.S. cities and states
  • Los Angeles is listed as one of the ten most-requested global cities for the first time
  • For the first time, those identifying themselves as families with kids surpassed married as the most common traveler type among those identifying with a lifestyle category.
