Important award for Tudor Hall and GB Roof Garden restaurants from 'Wine Spectator' magazine

‘Wine Spectator’ is a lifestyle magazine and since 1976 focuses on the culture of wine. Its purpose is to recognize restaurants worldwide which provide interesting wine list, with appropriate choices in regards to their cuisine and represent a wide variety to satisfy wine lovers.

ATHENS – Tudor Hall Restaurant, located on the 7th floor of the King George hotel, has received an award from the famous ‘Wine Spectator’ magazine from its very first year of operation.

‘Wine Spectator’ is a lifestyle magazine and since 1976 focuses on the culture of wine. It publishes 15 issues per year and includes news, articles, and many comments and evaluations on wines. It was ranked by the Luxury Institute as the #1 among several business and consumer publications. Its purpose is to recognize restaurants worldwide which provide interesting wine list, with appropriate choices in regards to their cuisine and represent a wide variety to satisfy wine lovers.

According to the magazine, the awarded restaurants offer wine lists with a variety of wines from many different regions worldwide, and Tudor Hall is among them, receiving the special recognition of ‘Best of Award of Excellence 2014’.

The Sommelier of the restaurant, Evangelos Psofidis, with a knowledge and passion for wines and spirits, aims to display the largest wine-producing regions of the world through the restaurant’s wine list. Thus, he chooses to incorporate into the awarded list, wines that accurately represent the characteristics of these areas.

The GB Roof Garden of the Hotel Grande Bretagne and the Tudor Hall Restaurant of the King George hotel are the only restaurants in Athens that were included in the Wine Spectator’s list for having one of the most outstanding restaurant wine lists in the world. This distinction rewards the associates’ efforts to deliver excellent results in the very first year of Tudor Halls’ operation.

The GB Roof Garden Restaurant for the second year in a row received a very important distinction from ‘Wine Spectator’, one of the most popular wine magazines and is among the winners of the Wine Spectator Restaurant Award. Last year the restaurant was included in the list of  distinguished wine lists and was among the 2791, receiving the ‘Award of Excellence 2013’. This year, the restaurant of the Hotel Grande Bretagne, was awarded with the ‘Best of Award of Excellence 2014’, a distinction that honors it and sets the bar extremely high. According to the magazine, this award was created to present the restaurants that exceed the requirements of ‘Award of Excellence 2013’.
