Barbican announces new catering services and restaurants

Exciting plans are set to be unveiled for two of the new Barbican eateries including a partnership with one of London’s most celebrated chefs.

The Barbican has announced it is extending its 25-year relationship with restaurant, bar and event specialist Searcys, alongside arts venue and high street brand Benugo, with new catering contracts providing a wide range of new eating spaces and dining options.

The contracts, which will begin in the summer of 2015, will see two new restaurants opened whilst continuing to provide catering and hospitality services across the Barbican’s flexible and creative event spaces.

Exciting plans are set to be unveiled for two of the new Barbican eateries including a partnership with one of London’s most celebrated chefs. The first floor space will be transformed into a premium fast casual dining concept whilst a contemporary modern bistro will be open on the second floor.

Jackie Boughton, Head of Sales at Barbican Business Events, said: “The long relationship we have enjoyed with Searcys is testament to the fantastic service they have provided over the last 25 years. They have met the challenges of providing catering and hospitality services here at the Barbican and we are excited about their plans for the restaurants.”

Run by Benugo, the Barbican kitchen on the ground floor will feature a hand built wood fired oven serving organic pizza. Set in the bright open plan space next to the lakeside, it is ideal for individuals and large groups visiting the Centre. Benugo will also operate the cinema cafes and foyer coffee points around the Barbican which will enhance the Barbican’s dining options for delegates and visitors.

“We are incredibly proud of our long relationship with the Barbican and absolutely delighted to extend this for another five years,” comments Chris Maddison, Searcys’ Managing Director. “The Barbican set a stern challenge to all the catering companies taking part in the tender and we are very proud to have their trust placed in us. We are confident that when we open our two new restaurants they will firmly establish the Barbican on London’s culinary map.”
