Miami International Airport welcomes new service to Monterrey by Aeromexico

With the addition of the new Monterrey service, MIA now offers 103 weekly Mexico flights – a total that will grow to 109 in June.

MIAMI – Miami International Airport added its first new international destination of 2015 when Aeromexico Flight 425 from Monterrey, Mexico touched down at MIA yesterday. The inaugural Monterrey-Miami flight marks the start of daily service between Miami and Mexico’s third-largest metropolitan area.

One of Latin America’s most prosperous cities, Monterrey is a major business hub and home to numerous multinational corporations. It represents Miami’s fifth Mexico destination, joining Cancun, Cozumel, Merida and Mexico City. Aeromexico will operate the route from their Monterrey hub using a 76-seat Embraer 170 aircraft. MIA hub carrier American Airlines has also announced plans for service between the two cities, with six weekly flights scheduled to begin on June 4.

“Congratulations to our longtime partners at Aeromexico on launching new daily service to Monterrey,” said Miami-Dade Aviation Director Emilio T. Gonzalez. “The Monterrey-Miami route further expands our Latin American network and is just the latest way that MIA is connecting our community to the world.”

With the addition of the new Monterrey service, MIA now offers 103 weekly Mexico flights – a total that will grow to 109 in June. Other new international flights coming soon to MIA are: Thomas Cook Airlines service to Manchester, England in May; American Airlines service to Frankfurt, Germany, also in May, followed by new Baranquilla service in June; Aerolineas Argentinas service to Cordoba, Argentina in July; and Austrian Airlines service to Vienna service in October.
