For aviation fans of all ages, this year's Winter Market has a special daily treat: Munich Airport's popular 50-minute twilight tours of the runways, fire stations, cargo terminal and maintenance hangars will depart hourly from the Munich Airport Center.
MUNICH, GERMANY – Munich Airport‘s Winter Market is back, offering entertainment, family fun, distinctive gift items and seasonal foods and drinks to passengers, visitors and staff. The 17th edition of the popular event is open through December 27, once again turning the covered open space of the Munich Airport Center between the airport’s two terminals into an enchanted winter wonderland with 450 live Christmas trees and centerpiece giant Christmas tree. Open from 11am until 9pm (closing at 5pm on Christmas Eve), The Winter Market offers visitors open-air Christmas shopping at more than 46 stands offering gift ideas and seasonal treats like mulled wine, sweet roasted almonds, sausages and gingerbread. At the middle is a large skating rink with an adjacent ice surface for Bavaria’s unique version of curling.
The Winter Market features a program of fun events with activities for all. On St. Nicholas Day, Sunday December 6, Santa Claus himself makes a personal appearance in the Munich Airport Center at 2pm to hand out presents to the little ones. On Saturday, December 19, visitors can watch Germany’s top figure skaters perform dazzling moves on the ice. Following, the rink will be open to all for an evening of skating to live music. And starting four days before Christmas, children can design, color and fold their own wish lists as they wait in anticipation for the traditional Christ Child visit.
