Simply Sweden boosts access to Icehotel with real-time booking

Scandinavian specialist also adds five new tours for spring-summer 2016.

SWEDEN – Simply Sweden will have direct access to real-time bookings for the Icehotel from February. The new system will enable the Scandinavian travel specialist to more quickly source and book rooms at this popular attraction in Swedish Lapland. Flights for the Icehotel in 2016-17 go on sale this month, too.

Simply Sweden is also offering five new adventures for spring and summer; high-value holidays, all of which offer 10 per cent commission. Travel agents can find support for selling the tour operator’s holidays on its dedicated page for the trade, which features information, training and attractive sales materials.

The exciting new trips include an extraordinary new journey on which guests will have the chance to experience both the Midnight Sun and the Northern Lights. The one-off escorted tour, Wonders Of The Sun, travels to Svalbard, the Norwegian fjords and the Swedish mountains in August. The 11-night trip, which will be unrepeatable for years to come and has only 16 places, has been precision-timed to arrive during the Midnight Sun just when the Northern Lights are at the peak of their cyclical activity and visible under a new moon.

Guests will land in Svalbard under the Midnight Sun to enjoy a range of activities, including the chance to see polar bears. Tromso is the next stop, where highlights include a cultural tour led by a Sami guide, then guests will board the Hurtigruten for a cruise across the Arctic Circle, passing through the Vesteralen and Lofoten archipelagos, with eyes peeled for the Northern Lights. The tour continues to the Scandes mountains and Tannforsen, Sweden’s largest waterfall, for more aurora-watching opportunities in dark skies. Departs 22 August.

West Sweden Coastal Cruise: The vintage ship M/S Wilhelm Tham will offer cruises along the Bohuslan Archipelago for the first time in 2016. The traditional vessel, which first launched in 1912, is more usually seen on the Gota Kanal – she was designed to navigate the locks. This June and August, the ship will weave its way through the narrow channels of these scenic islands, between Gothenburg and Grebbestad.

Faroe Islands – Fly Drive: imply Sweden ventures into the Kingdom of Denmark for the first time, with Faroe Islands – Fly Drive. Walkers and birdwatchers will relish embracing the great outdoors on these invigorating isles in the North Atlantic. Meanwhile, historians can investigate evidence of Iron Age settlers and immerse themselves in Faroese culture. Available May to September.

b: Guests can now track brown bears as part of Escape – Swedish Style. “Stockholm and Escape” has been updated and now includes an optional overnight bear safari led by an expert guide, with a night in a wilderness cabin in the heart of the beasts’ lair. The rest of the holiday is spent on cycle rides, nature walks and other outdoor activities at Stilleben, a stylish B&B in a former parish hall and blacksmith’s, and Kabin, a little red cottage on a secret island deep in the forest. Available May to October.

Svalbard – Tailor Made: A bucket-list journey to Norway’s Arctic wilderness is put into the hands of the customers so they can create their perfect itinerary with Svalbard – Tailor Made. Guests can now choose between four- or five-night stays. They can also select their preferred activities from an array of excursions, such as hunting for 40-million-year-old fossils with huskies, and nature safaris by RIB to see seabirds and possibly polar bears.
