The intense rivalries between Greek shipowners were highlighted last Wednesday at the first meeting of the Union of Passenger Shipowners after the country`s general elections.

The rapidly-expanding Minoan<.> Lines and its subsidiary Minoan Flying Dolphins made their presence felt with the election of Costas Klironomos, president of the two firms, and MFD`s director Nikos Vikatos as members of the union`s administrative board.

Periklis Panagopoulos and his son Alexandros, as well as Gerasimos Strintzis, were also voted in as members of the board.

Andreas Potamianos heads the board as chairman, Markos Foros is deputy chairman in charge of the cruiseship sector, Gerasimos Strintzis is deputy chairman in charge of the ferries sector, Alexandros Panagopoulos is the general secretary and Anargyros Angelopoulos is treasurer.

The remaining members of the board are Eleni Potamianou, G. Diakakis and F. Frangoudakis.
