The ERA Board continues to evolve as new members commit to work for the benefit of regional aviation

Vasiliki Christidi, General Manager, SKY express, has been elected as the new Vice President of the ERA Board.

European Regions Airline Association (ERA) reveals the results of its recent Board elections. The results were announced to members on 13 October at the association’s Annual General Meeting, held as part of the ERA General Assembly in Vilamoura, Portugal.

Vasiliki Christidi, General Manager, SKY express, has been elected as the new Vice President of the ERA Board. Having been nominated to the Board last year as an Airline representative, Christidi is dedicated to committing her time, expertise and enthusiasm, even more so as the aviation industry continues to face new challenges.

She said: “I am very pleased to be taking on the role of ERA Vice President and look forward to achieving the goals of the association for the benefit of regional aviation and the communities it serves. As a proud female leader in aviation, I feel it is important to recognise that inclusion of women is about more than just percentages. I hope to inspire conversations on diversity to focus on providing everyone with the dignity they deserve.”

Andreas Kaiafas, CEO, Marathon Airlines, and Olivier Mazzucchelli, CEO, HOP! have been elected for the Airline category, and Warner Rootliep, Managing Director of KLM Cityhopper, has also been re-elected.

Manufacturer member Sergey Kiselev, Chief Commercial Officer, ZeroAvia will serve on the ERA Board, joining forces with industry colleagues to make the sector more sustainable and competitive. Sameer Adam, Senior Vice President Commercial, ACIA Aero Leasing joins as a Supplier representative, whilst Phillip Ashley-Smith, CEO, PAS Aviation Group, will take on the position representing Aviation Services members.

Montserrat Barriga, Director General, ERA, said: “I am delighted to welcome all the new members to the ERA Board, as well as our reappointed representatives. I am looking forward to the contributions of these senior representatives from ERA membership, which includes the entire spectrum of companies in the aviation ecosystem, with more than 200 businesses, including 56 airlines. I am particularly pleased to count on Vasiliki, a female colleague, as Vice President of our association, and see this as a step towards a more gender-balanced industry. Our Board members bring with them a wealth of diverse knowledge and experience that is essential as we navigate through these challenging times.”

Another change will be seen within the ERA Board this week, as after more than 35 years with the company, ERA’s Finance Director Peter King, CBE, will be retiring. During this time, King has overseen ERA’s finances and has provided support and guidance to the association and the ERA Board. Alongside this role, he has equally worked within a variety of positions, including serving as CEO of British Cycling for 12 years – a position that gained him his accolade of Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE).

As part of ERA’s General Assembly gala dinner, King was recognised for his long service to the company, and for his commitment to the regional airlines of Europe.

On this milestone moment, Barriga said: “It has been a privilege to work alongside Peter, and on behalf of the ERA Board, I would like to thank him for his decades of service to the association. His dedication behind the scenes truly is to be commended and we wish him all the best in his retirement.”
