Continental Airlines announces twice-weekly service between Houston and Punta Cana, Dominican Republic

Continental Airlines announced it will begin twice-weekly service between George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston and Punta Cana

Continental Airlines announced it will begin twice-weekly service between George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston and Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, on Dec. 16, pending government approval. The new route will complement Continental`s existing service to Punta Cana from Newark Liberty International Airport.

The new flight will depart Houston at 1:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, arriving in Punta Cana at 7:35 p.m. The return flight will depart Punta Cana at 9:10 a.m. Saturdays and Sundays, arriving in Houston at 12 noon. The flight schedule is timed conveniently to allow for one-stop daylight connections from the Midwest and West Coast.

Continental will utilize a Boeing 737 with seating for 12 in first class and 112 in coach on the flight from Houston to Punta Cana, a popular white- sand beach destination on the Eastern tip of the Dominican Republic. Shaded by coconut trees, the area features an abundance of all-inclusive hotels. Attractions include water activities, jungle walks and the Manati Park Bavaro, a zoo and water park.

Continental currently serves 18 Caribbean destinations from its international hubs in Houston and New York/Newark, and offers service to seven additional destinations in the Caribbean through Continental Connections codeshare flights.
