TROY, MICH. – New California Hotels Corporation together with Park Avenue Investments LLC, is developing a new concept for the Detroit area. The 17 Acre mixed use development will be named LA SQUARE, a brainchild of CEO Remo Polselli. The development was inspired by The Grove in Los Angeles, California. Originally, the site of the Northfield Hilton, it is currently, the Met Hotel Troy. LA Square will be located off of the I-75 and Crooks Exit at 5500 Crooks Road in the City of Troy, Michigan.
The hotel access road from Crooks Road, once a boulevard directly to the hotel will be converted into a 200 yard long 60 ft. wide pedestrian walkway adorned on both sides by Five Buildings totaling 168,000 square feet of commercial retail, restaurant and office. Each building will be three stories tall and the 3rd floor of all buildings will feature fully furnished condo/hotel units named “LA Lofts”. The entire complex will lead to a 192 room full service hotel with two restaurants, a cafe, bar as well the largest ballroom and meeting space in Oakland County.
“In meeting with the City of Troy, we developed plans to benefit the residents of the community and creating a new town center for the citizens of this great community,” says Richard Halstrom, spokesperson for the company. “LA SQUARE will include a 500 seat amphitheater named ‘Fire and Ice’ for concerts in the summer and a skating rink in the winter. There is also a proposal for Farmers markets from the Spring through Fall in the same area. Finally, the new hotel (with a name soon to be announced) will also feature an upscale art gallery where Detroit artists can be featured as well as a venue for cultural and social events.”
The Architectural firm of Krieger Klatt Architects Inc. of Royal Oak, Michigan have been retained to bring this dream into a reality. Plans are being submitted to the City Of Troy. LA SQUARE begins construction in 2014.
