New hotel opening for Holiday Inn Resorts

The opening of the West Bay Beach, A Holiday Inn Resort hotel, brings the Holiday Inn Resort brand to almost 40 locations across the globe.

Last week, IHG announced the following hotel openings:

  • Holiday Inn Resort Traverse City, Michigan
  • Holiday Inn Express Panama City, Panama
  • Holiday Inn Express Hermosillo, Mexico
  • Holiday Inn Orizaba, Mexico.

The opening of the West Bay Beach, A Holiday Inn Resort hotel, brings the Holiday Inn Resort brand to almost 40 locations across the globe. Located on the shores of West Grand Traverse Bay in Northern Michigan, the property opened this month following a $6 million renovation and offers 500 feet of prime beachfront access, an on-site marina equipped with boat and personal watercraft rentals and the largest catamaran – the Nauticat – on the Great Lakes, which leaves the hotel dock three times a day for cruises on West Bay.

The newest addition to IHG’s Latin America portfolio with the opening of the 196-room Holiday Inn Express Panama Distrito Financiero hotel in Panama City, Panama, is the first Holiday Inn Express in the city. The regional corporation operated by Grupo AGRISAL has other IHG branded properties located in Costa Rica, El Salvador, and recently broke ground in Honduras and Nicaragua.

Slated to open before the end of 2014, the ground break of the Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Hermosillo hotel is expected to generate at least 150 employment opportunities. Once open, this will be the fourth IHG-branded hotel in Sonora – currently home to two Holiday Inn hotels and one Holiday Inn Express hotel. The 185-room hotel is being developed by Posadas Cantabria, S.A. de C.V., with an investment of more than $12 million.

The opening of the Holiday Inn Orizaba hotel brings the total number of IHG-branded hotels in Veracruz to eight including: two Crowne Plaza hotels, one Hotel Indigo property, three Holiday Inn hotels and one Holiday Inn Express hotel. Decorated in a contemporary style, the hotel conversion generated more than 370 employment opportunities.
