Staff excellence honoured at Searcys Annual Awards

The event provided a much-valued opportunity to present the company’s achievements to an audience of 150 guests, including catering managers, chefs and sales and marketing teams from 29 different venues.

Searcys, a prominent hospitality and restaurant group which celebrated its 170th anniversary last year, is proud to have honoured the very best of its teams at the Searcys Annual Awards in London, on 18 January 2018. It was a truly spectacular night that recognised the high standard of staff excellence across their portfolio of restaurants, bars and venues.
 
The event provided a much-valued opportunity to present the company’s achievements to an audience of 150 guests, including catering managers, chefs and sales and marketing teams from 29 different venues.

Guest speaker Annica Wainwright, food journalist and founder of 2 Forks consultancy, welcomed the teams with a talk on food and drink trends for 2018. Annica see a significant increase in plant menus to cater for the growing number of vegans and flexitarians. She also gave insight into how the sector will need to adapt to the technological advances now expected by the next generation of customers.

The conference was followed by the awards ceremony that honoured key staff nominated by their peers in 9 categories. 10-11 Carlton House Terrace took home two awards: Venue of the Year, a category which recognised exceptional teams that delivered innovation and value to the business and the Chef of the Year award, scoffed by chef Valeria Di Rita.

Chef Daniel Broughton (30 Euston Square) who designed Searcys’ healthy menus won the Innovator of the Year, an award that honours those who bring fresh thinking to improving Searcys performance, commented: “It’s great to be recognised as an innovator, here at 30 Euston Square we are always thinking outside the box in regards to our menus. Most think healthy eating is a trend but for me and my team it’s a culture and an ethos we should all be conscripting too.”

Matt Thomas, Managing Director at Searcys commented: “This year we are eager to communicate and celebrate who we are. Our Britishness, our heritage and our intent to add value, will assist us in making our customers’ experience enjoyable and memorable, and keep them coming back.” 

The other award winners include: 

  • Service Excellence: Felix D’Souza from The Roman Bath Kitchen
  • Rising star: Istvan Horvath from Allen & Overy
  • Financial performance excellence: 30 Euston Square
  • Health and safety excellence: Kenwood House 
  • Support Person of the year: Kat Drury, Exclusive Events team 
  • Manager or supervisor of the year: Mehmet Oztunc, Searcys at the Gherkin
