Named for President Theodore Roosevelt, the midtown masterpiece attracts guests and Hollywood filmmakers alike with a classic New York setting and rich history stories.

NEW YORK – Celebrating 90 years of iconic history, The Roosevelt Hotel NYC invites future guests with the last name Roosevelt to book one night ina special price at the “Grand Dame of Madison Avenue.”

The Roosevelt opened in 1924 on Madison Avenue at 45th St. boasting a neo-classical lobby, 1,015 renovated rooms and contemporary restaurants and lounges including mad46, 19th floor rooftop bar, Vander Bar, street-side restaurant and Madison Club Lounge, lobby-level lounge. Named for President Theodore Roosevelt, the midtown masterpiece attracts guests and Hollywood filmmakers alike with a classic New York setting and rich history stories including:

  • Hotel namesake, President Theodore Roosevelt, inspired the creation of the beloved Teddy Bear toy after he refused to shoot a helpless cub during a highly publicized hunting trip
  • Big Band great Guy Lombardo began his New Year’s Eve tradition of broadcasting “Auld Lang Syne” over American radio airwaves from the hotel’s Roosevelt Grill
  • Gov. Thomas Dewey erroneously announced from his election night headquarters at The Roosevelt that he defeated Harry S. Truman during the dubious 1948 presidential campaign
  • Historically linked with Grand Central Station, white-gloved porters from The Roosevelt whisked guests through a private underground passageway to the hotel
  • The Roosevelt became the first metropolitan hotel in the Golden Era to boast TVs in all guestrooms, a wellness health center, hospital complete with an operating room, children’s program and a kennel for pets
