As general manager, Duncan Clements will be responsible for managing all aspects of the resort’s day-to-day operations.

FORT LAUDERDALE, FLA. – Driftwood Hospitality Management announced the appointment of two executive team members who will lead the opening of the new Hillsboro Beach Resort. Both seasoned hospitality industry veterans, Duncan Clements will serve as the resort’s general manager and Tricia C. Shaw will serve as the director of sales and catering for the property. Slated to open in August 2021, Hillsboro Beach Resort is the only resort located on exclusive Hillsboro Mile, offering direct oceanfront access.

“We are pleased to have Duncan and Tricia on board to guide Hillsboro Beach Resort through its opening and support the property’s efforts into the future,” said Michael Diaz, chief operating officer for Driftwood Hospitality Management.

As general manager, Clements will be responsible for managing all aspects of the resort’s day-to-day operations. A native of the United Kingdom, he worked in various roles for InterContinental Hotels Group in London, Abu Dhabi and Budapest before coming to the United States. Since relocating, Clements has served in several hotel leadership positions, including working as the general manager at Hotel Burnham Chicago and Hotel Lumen Dallas, both part of the Kimpton Hotels & Resorts portfolio. Most recently, he spent the last eight years managing luxury boutique resorts in South Florida such as Kimpton Vero Beach Hotel & Spa and YVE Hotel Miami.

As director of sales and catering, Shaw will focus on providing memorable wedding and event experiences for guests as well as developing the resort into a top destination for visitors seeking a luxury beach experience. Originally from Massachusetts, Shaw is a seasoned sales professional with well over a decade of experience working with luxury beach front properties. Prior to joining Driftwood Hospitality Management’s Hillsboro Beach Resort opening team, Tricia served as the director of catering and conference services for Kimpton Hotels & Resorts, initially with the Tideline Ocean Resort and Spa in Palm Beach. She also worked for several years as the director of catering for The Seagate Hotel and Spa in Delray Beach, driving events for the hotel, private beach club and golf club.

Hillsboro Beach Resort is beautifully situated on an intimate peninsula known colloquially as “Millionaire’s Mile” for the numerous oceanfront mansions and luxury yachts lining the town’s street. The luxury resort boasts 99 well-appointed guestrooms, studios and suites, as well as an airy event space with views of the beach. Guests can expect to delight in internationally inspired cuisine at the resort restaurant Roí or can experience the relaxed atmosphere of the ocean view resort pool or private beach. Perfect for outdoor enthusiasts, guests can enjoy a day of watersports from the resort’s intracoastal mooring or head out on one of resort’s beach cruiser bicycles to explore the surrounding areas. The resort is conveniently located less than 40 minutes from both Palm Beach International Airport and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, as well as just 20 minutes from Boca Raton Executive Airport.
