Four Seasons Resort Maui invites guests to experience the transformation of luxury resort

Iconic Maui resort unveils stunning rejuvenation.

MAUI, HAWAII – Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea proudly announces a floor-to-ceiling transformation of its luxury guest rooms, suites and beyond. The project was quietly set in motion in December 2014, when a hand-selected group of executives gathered for a design review of the legendary resort. The group reimagined every detail of the property, redefining the luxury guest experience for today’s most discerning travelers. Almost two years later, the transformation is complete, and Four Seasons Resort Maui has emerged an even better place to see, be seen and be unseen.

Human-Centered Design
The new room and suite features were developed in countless hours of collaboration between Wimberly Interiors, original architect of the resort and designer of hundreds of luxury resorts worldwide, and Four Seasons hoteliers. The redesign was born out of imagination, technology, sense of place, pride, and – first and foremost – guest experience. What resulted was a human-centered design evident across every room and suite. “Each element of the transformation was thoughtfully chosen to create the best possible guest experience,” says General Manager Jean Claude Wietzel, who personally worked with Wimberly Interiors.

The largest rooms on Maui became even larger, as bulky furniture was replaced with sleek design elements. Dressers were moved from the main room into a bathroom nook, smartly transforming the space into a dressing room. This feature as well as the reorganized closet layout were both elements designed by a woman for a woman. A 65-inch ultra-high definition 4D LED television was mounted on a media wall, and a table interacts with a shelving unit – perfect for work or dining. A full-size sectional sofa pulls out into a queen-size bed, accommodating a family of up to two adults and two children. Private lanais extend outdoor living space with comfortable furnishings. And at the center of every room is the exclusive Four Seasons bed, which offers all the benefits of a fully customizable sleep experience, not to mention wall-mounted bedside lamps to free up space and personal reading lights integrated into the headboard.

Sense of Place
Every detail of the inspired new aesthetic honors the beauty and magic of Wailea. Meaningful art, textures and patterns were curated to create a comfortable retreat that inspires guests to experience the transformative nature of their surroundings. Graphic textiles by Eskayel Design were chosen to match the enchantment of the Wailea coastline.  The Resort’s professional fine art curator Julie Cline has introduced new contemporary artwork to further strengthen and celebrate the resort’s Hawaiian art collection.  Pieces were hand-selected to feature artists who have lived, worked or studied in Hawaii and lend a fresh perspective to the sophisticated design palette.

New Luxury Suites
The resort’s top suite accommodations are more flexible than ever. Twenty-one Ocean Front Suites now offer configurations of one-, two-, three- and four bedroom floor plans, some of which are further separated from the rest of the resort with an antechamber that provides increased flexibility, security, and privacy. The preeminent 21 suites come with the resort’s most valuable and unexpected amenity – a dedicated personal assistant. She and her team manage every detail for guests of the top-tiered suites, which now include five Presidential Suites. Whether it is tending to any number of the Complete Suite inclusions or customizing a once-in-a-lifetime Unforgettable Experience, the personal assistant ensures a flawless stay that connects her suite guests to the very best of Maui.

Public Spaces
The property’s rejuvenation extends even beyond guest rooms and suites. The poolside cabanas and chaise lounges have been refreshed, and the resort’s hillside oceanfront sanctuaries have been completely redesigned incorporating the lush landscape so as to offer more privacy than ever for couples or families. Spaces for special events have been added, including two new lawns that offer stunning oceanfront views just steps from the golden sands of Wailea Beach. Whether the enhancements at the Porte Cochere, refreshed culinary menus offering wellness options at each restaurant, or the thoughtful poolside landscaping, the all-new resort is unmistakable throughout every aspect of the guests’ stay.
