Have caravan holidays become more popular since Coronavirus?

Caravan holidays can actually bring many benefits and there are places all over the UK to visit which means that the way that people think about holidays could change, especially those that have invested in a caravan in 2020.

2020 has been a year for staycations with the government discouraging interna-tional travel, restrictions in place and many people feeling cautions while the pan-demic continues. Many people are discovering the joys of a staycation and realis-ing just how much the UK has to offer and this could change the way that people think about vacations for years to come.

Caravan holidays increasing
Caravan holidays are proving to be particularly popular and this is for good rea-son. Many people remain cautious about any kind of travel, but a caravan allows people to travel safely and maintain social distancing, plus they can be much more affordable than an international holiday which is important in a time where people are watching their money and worried about the recession.

Benefits
Caravan holidays also give people great freedom to vacation all over the UK and enjoy being out in nature. There is something special about vacationing in a cara-van where you get to be surrounded by natural beauty and this can be good for your mental health – this is hugely important in a time where many people are suffering and unable to go on a typical holiday.

Demand skyrocketing
As a result of more people opting for staycations and caravan holidays and the future of international travel unclear, it is no surprise that the demand for cara-vans and motorhomes has skyrocketed. One dealer reported selling an entire month’s stock in the first week back after lockdown while the increase in demand has created a bidding frenzy amongst dealers at auctions as they try to keep up with demand.

Auto Trader editor Rory Reid explained:

"Many are unlikely to want to quarantine themselves for 14 days after a holiday abroad, so we’ll be seeing UK beaches and other hotspots abuzz with British holi-daymakers this summer. Caravan holidays in particular will shoot through the roof”.

Destinations
Coastal areas like Portsmouth will certainly be popular for staycations and caravan holidays as they can provide the closest thing to a sun, sea and sand holiday while many of these towns and cities also have caravan parks nearby and are sur-rounded by the UK’s stunning countryside. This means that they are well-suited to all kinds of holidaymakers who are discovering that there are many perks to a staycation over an international holiday and might look to other UK destinations even once the pandemic has ended.

It is easy to see why so many people are opting for staycations this year with in-ternational travel not advised and people feeling cautious. Caravan holidays can actually bring many benefits and there are places all over the UK to visit which means that the way that people think about holidays could change, especially those that have invested in a caravan in 2020.
