New routes to open at Pulkovo in the summer of 2017

The summer 2017 meeting brought together 100 guests, among them were representatives of airlines, tour operators, consular corps in St. Petersburg, the tourist authorities of Norway and Serbia, city administration of St. Petersburg and media.

In the upcoming summer season 2017, the schedule of Pulkovo St. Petersburg Airport will expand with new domestic and international destinations. Traditional summer services to a number of destinations along with the routes first launched in the summer of 2016 will be resumed.

A regular connection will bring together the Northern Capital of Russia and Italian Catania with Alitalia starting the flights on the route in June. Ellinair will add a Greek city of Kavala to its route network, making it the fifth destination serviced by the airline from St. Petersburg on a scheduled basis. The airport summer schedule will also feature a new route in Gerogria with Ural Airlines opening scheduled service to Kutaisi in May.

Starting June 1, Rusline Airlines will perform scheduled flights from St. Petersburg to Bergen, making it the second city Norway with direct air conncetion to St.Petersburg. Rusline will also expand the route network from Pulkovo with several European destinations, including those new for St. Petersburg airport.

Scheduled flights to Shanghai by China Eastern Airlines, Zagreb by Croatia Airlines, Belgrade by Air Serbia, all laucnhed from Pulkovo in the summer of 2016 will be resumed. In addition, traditional summer services to the many cities in Greece (by Aegean Airlines, Ellinair), Seoul (by Korean Air), Brussels (by Brussels Airlines) and others will be renewed as well.

Many carriers plan to increase the frequency of flights and add new destinations to their georgraphy from Pulkovo. Among those are KLM that doubled the St. Petersburg – Amsterdam service from 7 to 14 a week since February 19; and Finnair increasing the frequency of Helsinki service from 14 to 20 flights a week. Passengers of Pulkovo airport will also enjoy UTair launching flights to Samara and Mineralnye Vody, S7 opening Bryansk, Kaliningrad and Berlin services from Pulkovo, Nordavia having new flights to Volgograd, Voronezh, Kazan, and VIM Avia with a number of new destinations in Asia and Russia.

In the coming season, Rossiya Airlines, the home base carrier of Pulkovo airport, will resume the scheduled flights from St. Petersburg to Istanbul and Antalya (Turkey), increase the number of flights to several points in Europe, including Barcelona, Burgas, Varna, Vienna, Hamburg, Dusseldorf, Munich, Rome. Among the new seasonal charter flights in Rossiya’s schedule from Pulkovo are Podgorica (Montenegro) and Pardubice (Czech Republic).

The calendar of the IATA aviation seasons is divided into two periods. The summer season starts on the last Sunday of March, the winter season begins on the last Sunday in October.
