Peakwork takes DRV GlobalTypes to the international market

Applying the GlobalTypes classification brings many benefits, such as improved price comparability, faster searching and enhanced customer service.

DUSSELDORF / BERLIN – The DRV’s GlobalTypes categories become international: Peakwork now licenses the German Travel Association’s (DRV) GlobalTypes, categories, to offer a standardized description of tourism services for all its international partners in the Leisure Travel Network.

Currently, the global travel industry does not use a standardized code or attributes to describe accommodation, room type or other tourism service, so comparing offers can be a challenge for both operators and travelers.

GlobalTypes, launched by the DRV back in 2012, are clearly defined codes that can be used to define all types of tourist services. The DRV has analyzed and categorized all the product characteristics with leading German tour operators and Peakwork as its IT service provider.

Today, there are over 320,000 DRV GlobalTypes available, mainly covering accommodation, cities, regions, countries, airports and hotel chains. When these standard codes are assigned to travel offers, they can be clearly searched and displayed.

Applying the GlobalTypes classification brings many benefits, such as improved price comparability, faster searching and enhanced customer service. As comparable standards do not exist within the travel industry, this creates the ideal opportunity to take the GlobalTypes categories to an international level. Peakwork is already using this standard categorization among its international customers and Peakwork customers in Canada right through to Turkey and China are already using GlobalTypes.

Licensing and support are now provided internationally by Peakwork, while in Germany licenses continue to be provided directly by the DRV. Olaf Collet, Managing Director of DRV Service GmbH, is pleased: "With this development, we are making a big step towards the internationalization of the DRV Data Standard and GlobalTypes".

Jan Gerlach, CEO of Peakwork, commented: "GlobalTypes are unique in their in depth description of travel products and in their national use in Germany. The added value for sales and customers is undisputed. We look forward to positioning GlobalTypes globally to international customers. "

Peakwork technology connects tourism providers and sales worldwide across currently 35 markets. Global Internet companies and metasearch also connect APIs to receive fast and reliable offers for leisure travel sales.
