SEGITTUR and FITUR launch the tourist app competition The AppTourism Awards 2018

Any interested apps have until 30 November to enter their candidatures. More than 450 apps were entered in the four previous stagings.

MADRID – SEGITTUR and FITUR have launched the fifth staging of the tourist app competition for mobiles, The AppTourism Awards, in recognition of the importance that apps have acquired for tourists when organising their trips.

The purpose of the competition is to recognise the best applications, both national and international, which in one way or another help to improve the tourist’s experience in organising their trip.

Apps can be entered in seven different categories: best app for smartwatch, best national destination guide, best app for sports, nature and adventure tourism, best app for cultural and wine-gastronomy tourism, best app for tourist services, best app for international destination guide and best app for international tourist services.

More than 450 app candidatures were entered in the four previous stagings, of which 70% corresponded to the national category and 30% to the international category.

The jury of The AppTourism Awards competition will be composed of professional experts from the technology, tourism, online marketing and communication sectors.

The prize is a recognition awarded by SEGITTUR, a body attached to the Ministry of Energy, Tourism and Digital Agenda, and FITUR, one of the world’s major tourism trade fairs, to the best tourist applications in their different categories.

In the national apps category, the winners will also be included in the app repository of the Spanish official tourism portal.

Any apps interested in participating should do so through the online form available on segittur.es.
