VisitEngland launches new edition of The Pink Book

The latest edition includes new information on Package Travel Regulations (2018), General Data Protection Regulation (2018) as well as a chapter on Legionnaire’s Disease prevention. And new to the Pink Book is guidance on the use of closed-circuit television (CCTV) on business premises.

VisitEngland has launched an updated Pink Book, an overview of the legal obligations for English accommodation providers.

Now in its tenth edition, "The Pink Book: Legislation for tourist accommodation" provides guidance for running an accommodation business – from food hygiene and health and safety to obtaining entertainment and alcohol licences.

The latest edition includes new information on Package Travel Regulations (2018), General Data Protection Regulation (2018) as well as a chapter on Legionnaire’s Disease prevention. And new to the Pink Book is guidance on the use of closed-circuit television (CCTV) on business premises.

Tourism Minister Michael Ellis said: “Our successful tourism industry creates benefits that are felt in local communities across the country. Tourism is good for jobs, good for business and good for economic growth.

“The Pink Book is a great resource to help our accommodation providers maintain their superb service for visitors at home and abroad, helping us to make a visit to England a truly memorable experience.”

VisitEngland Director Andrew Stokes said: “England’s accommodation offering is first class, varied and extensive whether it’s a charming country B&B, a quirky canal boat, a campsite, a farm stay or a pub room, there is somewhere to suit everyone’s taste.

"The Pink Book is a vital tool for accommodation providers with its easy to use guidance helping tourism businesses remain fully informed of up-to-date legislation and maintain the high standards England’s tourism industry is recognised for throughout the world.”

The Pink Book is the only guide to legislation specifically aimed at all accommodation providers in England, including small business owners.

Independent participants in VisitEngland’s accommodation Quality Scheme will receive a complimentary copy at the time of their next assessment.
