Bahrain Airport Company recognized at British Safety Council International Safety Awards 2021

BAC is one of 147 organizations to win at the International Safety Awards 2021.

MUHARRAQ, BAHRAIN – Bahrain Airport Company (BAC), the operator and managing body of Bahrain International Airport (BIA), was recognized by the British Safety Council for its commitment to protecting the health and wellbeing of its employees. BAC is one of 147 organizations to win at the International Safety Awards 2021, which celebrate organizations from around the world that have demonstrated a commitment to preventing workplace injuries and work-related ill health.

BAC Chief Executive Officer, Mohamed Yousif Al Binfalah said: “This achievement reflects the hard work and dedication of our entire team. BAC is committed to continuous improvement and further enhancing our safety standards and practices. We believe that our commitment to safety is an investment in our future success and we look forward to a rewarding journey with the British Safety Council as a leader in this field.”

He added: “Long before the pandemic hit, safety was ‘business as usual’ for us. Now, it is even more vital as we work alongside our partners to keep the Kingdom’s aviation sector moving along safely and effectively. With a strong focus on innovation and transparency at the new terminal and across the airport campus, we continue to adhere to government guidelines and international best practices to keep our customers and staff safe and secure as we continue supporting the recovery of the aviation sector.”

Chief Executive of the British Safety Council, Mike Robinson, congratulated BAC on its success saying: “The British Safety Council applauds BAC on its achievement and presents this award in recognition of its commitment to keeping employees and workplaces free of injury and ill health. The vision of the British Safety Council is that no one should be injured or made ill through their work – anywhere in the world. Achieving this requires more than complying with legislation; it means people committed not only to health and safety, but also to workplace wellbeing and compelling others to follow suit.”

He added: “The long list of winners of the International Safety Awards, demonstrates that a significant number of companies recognize that effective management of health and safety risks is a business growth enabler, benefiting not just employees, but organizations and wider society. Our heartfelt congratulations to BAC and its employees, who should be enormously proud of this achievement.”

In 2021, 387 organizations won an International Safety Award. They span diverse sectors with significant representation from the construction, manufacturing, oil & gas, mining, and power & utility sectors. Winners were drawn from 37 countries worldwide. In total, 85 organizations were awarded a Distinction, 155 were awarded a Merit, and 147 achieved a Pass.
