The June edition of the leading German up-market consumer travel magazine Abenteuer & Reisen featured an attractive full-colour six-page article on Gozo. The monthly magazine has a circulation of 120,000.
The article entitled `Stein aber fein` (`Stone, but fine stone`) emphasises that Gozo`s quiet atmosphere, which makes the island particularly attractive, relaxing and inspiring.
The feature portrays Gozo as a perfect place to spend a quiet farmhouse holiday or for taking part in art workshops. The author, Mr Andreeas Hub, highlighted the sculpting and painting workshops organised by Germans Heidi Schrickel and Horst Benz.
The article forms past of the Malta Tourism Authority`s PR efforts in the German market. These efforts, which have also focused on promoting Gozo as a distinct destination with unique characteristics, have been supplementing a large outdoor advertising campaign in Germany, using large mega-boards and city-light posters featuring only Gozo. Today most tour operators in Germany sell Gozo as a typical unspoilt Mediterranean island.
Mr Hub was hosted in Malta last winter by the Malta Tourism Authority in collaboration with Air Malta.
