Sharjah and Greece exploring the options for bilateral co-operation in tourism

Sharjah and Greece are exploring the options for bilateral co-operation in tourism and commerce between the two countries as well as the untapped investment opportunities in these sectors, the Chairman of the emirate’s tourism body said, last week.

Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qassimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA) who was in Athens for the official launch of Air Arabia‘s non-stop service to Athens said: "These visits enable us to study the current and future aspects of co-operation in the tourism and commercial sectors, and to explore untapped investment opportunities." He added: "We are keen to enhance information and experience exchange to further develop our partnership with Greece".

Al Qassimi was received by the Athens’ Deputy Mayor for International Relations, Sophia Daskalaki – Mytilineou. During the meeting, she said: "We are keen to establish ties with Sharjah to boost our friendship with the Arab World."

Al Qassimi presented to his host Sharjah’s programmes for developing its tourism and investment climate, through which the emirate aims to transform itself into a regional hub for global investment and cultural tourism.
