WTM announces high-profile speakers for airline programme

World Travel Market has organised a high-profile airline programme with senior executives from British Airways, Air China, IATA and Sky Team all speaking. Due to the airline programme growing popularity two of the three sessions have been moved to the larger Platuim Suites rooms, which hold around 250 people.

In previous years the programme, organised by aviation expert John Strickland, took place in the smaller North Gallery Rooms at ExCeL, which only hold a maximum of 180 people.

The programme is headlined by British Airways Chief Executive Keith Williams. The Big Talk with Keith Williams is part of the WTM Business Day programme on Thursday November 10, taking place in Platinum Suites 4 at 3.30pm.

It kicks off on Tuesday 8 November with Strickland discussing consolidation and alliances in aviation with Sky Team Managing Director Michael Wisbrun in the session Airline – New Industry Groupings, which takes place in North Gallery Room 5&6 at 11pm.

On Wednesday 9 November Strickland reviews the aviation sector in the emerging markets of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa in New World Order: The Airline Industry in the New Growth Markets of the 21st Century.

Oneworld Alliance Vice-President Corporate Communications Michael Blunt, IATA regional Vice-President Rafael Schvartzmann and Air China Vice President North America Zhihang Chi offer expert analysis on the potential of the world’s emerging markets.

Furthermore, the ACC Airline Conference: Aircraft Wet Leasing will also take place at WTM on Thursday at 2pm in Platinum Suite 3. The invitation-only event will review the general market outlook with the views of aircraft manufacturers, airlines, airports and supporting organisations.

Strickland said: "The WTM 2011 Airline Programme is one of the best-ever with great headline speakers covering some of the key topics in the sector. Keith Williams will give a fascinating insight into the future of British Airways following the merger with Iberia.

"Furthermore, New World Order: The Airline Industry in the New Growth Markets of the 21st Century is not to be missed as it previews the opportunities of arguably the industry’s biggest growth markets."

Reed Travel Exhibitions Director World Travel Market Simon Press added: "I’m delighted with the content of this year’s Airline Programme, it will be informative and help delegates with business decisions post WTM 2011."
