Going global: Top international summer vacation trends from Go-Today

USA – SEATTLE, WA  -With the economic recovery in full swing and warmer weather just around the corner, 2013 is becoming the year of the international summer vacation. Go-today, leading provider of vacation packages world-wide, is pleased to present a look at the numbers that prove more Americans are venturing farther from home while still maximizing the time and budget that goes into perfecting a seamless summer escape.

“The most important thing to remember when planning a summer vacation is that travel deals are accessible to everyone,” stated Paula McKay, President of go-today. “This summer our company has travelers departing from 84 different gateways in the US, which proves you don’t have to live in a major city to get a great deal.”

International vacation trends include:

  • The number of people taking a summer vacation increased 60% from 2011 to 2012 and the number of people taking a summer vacation increased an additional 39% from 2012 to 2013.
  • Travelers want to get as much out of vacation time as possible – 66% of reservations go to more than one city.
  • While 20% of go-today’s travelers opt for a 6-night package and 15% opt for a 9-night package, 30% choose to create a completely custom experience.
  • Buying a set package of flight, hotel, and sightseeing saves an average of $250 per person.
