Redeveloped London Pass app launched

Developed for iPhone and Android devices, the second generation app now offers London Pass holders the option to input their individual card number.

The popular London Pass city sightseeing card, which helps tourists save money and time when visiting attractions in the UK capital, has launched a redeveloped app which can now be linked to an individual London Pass – giving the customer access to exclusive, tailored special offers.

Developed for iPhone and Android devices, the second generation app now offers London Pass holders the option to input their individual card number. This is fed via the Urban Airship mobile marketing platform back to the Leisure Pass Operating System (LPOS), bespoke software which administers the London Pass.

LPOS then communicates with the app to unlock a ‘special offers’ section, accessible only to London Pass holders who have linked their card to the app. From this point, depending on the time of day and relevant local offers being available, LPOS is triggered to send a push notification through to the app.

For example, if the card is used to gain morning entry to the Tower of London, the app might provide the passholder with details of a nearby restaurant offering a special lunch deal exclusive to London Pass holders. Similarly, a visitor enjoying the sights of the West End in the afternoon might receive notification of an offer for the best seats at a leading show that evening.

“The London Pass is all about helping visitors to make the most of their time and budget in the city, with significant savings on entry to major attractions and no need to queue for tickets,” said Amanda Truman, Director – Product Marketing for the London Pass.

“Our redeveloped app remains true to this principle by giving London Pass holders access to a new range of deals, delivered via their smartphones at the relevant time and place. It’s a big step forward and adds even greater value to the product.”

The London Pass app, which is free to download, will continue to provide a wealth of information for visitors to the city. Features include Underground and bus maps, guides to different areas of London, itinerary suggestions, useful telephone numbers and even climate and currency information, as well as full details on all the attractions offered with the London Pass. The majority of the information can be accessed offline with no need for a data connection. Currently the app attracts around 2,500 active new users each week.

Operated by The Leisure Pass Group, The London Pass is a sightseeing card which gives visitors entry to a choice of more than 60 popular tourist attractions in the city.
