Tourism investment conference at ITE HCMC 2009

The Inaugural Tourism Investment Conference 2009 (TIC) brings top-level ministerial delegates from Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam (CLV), as well as selected international participants to engage in issues related to tourism investment, development and operations in the three countries.

It is the only commercial tourism, travel and hospitality event of its kind drawing key stakeholders looking at Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam as a single destination. With the TIC 2009 being organised concurrently with the International Travel Expo HCMC 2009, the event expects over 150 buyers from 15 countries and territories worldwide with the many local and foreign exhibitors from 13 countries, as well as 17 Vietnam provinces.

In a statement made during the 12th Meeting of ASEAN Tourism Ministers this year, the total international visitor arrivals 2008 in the region is growing positively with more than 58 million arrivals – 7 per cent higher than last year, proving that tourism in the ASEAN region is witnessing steady growth.

With the increased focused on promoting growth in the coming year, coupled with the ASEAN Tourism Investment Zone and individual tourism thrust of CLV, the Mekong region stands vibrant as a sea of potential reveals itself.

TIC 2009 from 30th September – 1st October has been organised to capitalise on this potential. It provides a timely platform for the National Tourism Organisations (NTO) to present their latest tourism master plans to an international business audience. Adopting the theme, 3CODe – 3 Countries 1 Destination the TIC 2009 presents CLV as a dynamic tourism cluster to realise the full potential of its tourism assets.

A 2-day conference with optional site visits to Tourism Development Projects in Vietnam, TIC 2009 focuses on insights and tips on attracting key investment to a variety of niche tourism areas through real-life case studies and their marketing strategy. Attendees can expect to meet ministers and senior officials from the tourism organizations of CLV. They will also gain valuable information on existing and future investment projects and strategies from the NTOs to tourism investors, multilateral organisations and other tourism, travel and hospitality private sector organisations.
