Higher tourist traffic between Cyprus, Greece

The Association of Cypriot Travel Agents (ACTA<.>) and the Thessaloniki hoteliers union are working together to promote travel between Cyprus and Greece.



Statistics show a constant rise in tourist traffic between the two Mediterranean countries. In the period 1995-99, the number of Greeks visiting Cyprus increased 17%, from 65,000 to 83,134. In the first eight months of 2000, this figure reached 69,000 – up 20.93% from 57,145 for the same period last year.



The figures for Cypriot visitors to Greece are even higher with 142,912 arrivals in 1999, up 14.8% from 124,525 in 1998. In the period January-August 2000 the figure rose to 113,407 from 105,693 in 1999.
