New partnership brings 30 Brazilian buyers to London to buy Europe

This year's Global European Marketplace (GEM) will be boosted by a delegation of leading Brazilian tour operators.

GEM, ETOA‘s flagship B2B networking event, showcases the very best of European tourism product to international buyers during a day of scheduled business meetings. A strategic partnership between ETOA – the European tourism association, the Brazilian Tour Operators Association (BRAZTOA) and the European Travel Commission (ETC) has for the first time opened this member-only event to outside parties; the BRAZTOA buyers will join ETOA’s tour operator and wholesale members to meet with tourism suppliers from across Europe.

Taking place on Friday 31st October, the week before WTM London, GEM provides an efficient and structured opportunity for product development, contracting and business networking.  At GEM 2013 over 13,000 appointments were scheduled and this year more buyers are represented than ever before.

Martine Ainsworth-Wells of ETOA said “With the total outbound Brazilian market valued in excess of $26.2billion annually, Europe must work hard to increase the estimated 3.8 million arrivals from Brazil and its global share of the tenth biggest travel spenders. The delegation of BRAZTOA tour operators at this year’s GEM only amplifies the event’s status as a leading travel trade event for those seeking to connect with important growth markets.”

Suppliers have until Friday to register, here’s what they’ve said about previous editions:

Iain Tonna, United Travel: “GEM 2013 provided me with the opportunity to meet and network with a large number of relevant buyers in a concentrated period of time.  I wouldn’t have expected to meet so many buyers on a guaranteed basis in one day at a trade show.”

Guendalina Scavia, Hotel Invest Italiana said: “The equivalent of a sales blitz concentated in one day.”

Kay Bartelink, Madame Tussauds Amsterdam, said: “A great expeirence and perfect oppurtunity to meet the relevant people and develop new business!
