The position of the International Civil Aviation Organization, ICAO, on Cyprus has not changed and continues to follow the UN policy on Cyprus, stated ICAO Council President Dr. Assad Kotaite adding that the illegal airport at the occupied Tympou, in the northern part of the island, is not on the international airports list.
In a formal statement is mentioned that Dr. Kotaite in a response letter addressed to Cyprus Ambassador to Washington and the country`s representative to the international organization Mr. Evripidis Evriviades dated August 9, stressed that all ICAO members should act in accordance with the existing security terms for international flights as they have been set by the organization itself.
