US Airways launches nonstop service from San Diego to Washington for first time

US Airways began daily, nonstop service for its customers in San Diego to Washington Reagan National Airport.  Military, business and leisure travelers in Southern California will have convenient access from San Diego International Airport to the nation’s capital’s downtown airport for the first time.

"We are delighted to connect the San Diego community with Reagan National for the first time," said Andrew Nocella, US Airways’ senior vice president, marketing and planning. "Not only will we offer our customers in San Diego direct access to our nation’s capital, but the new flight offers the same convenient service to our Washington customers – providing them the opportunity to visit San Diego’s beaches and top attractions. With San Diego established as the West Coast’s largest U.S. naval operation, it is also important to connect our military personnel to the District."

Starting June 8, US Airways will operate service to San Diego on dual-class 124-seat Airbus 319 aircraft.

US Airways will also launch daily, nonstop service to Augusta, Ga.; Minneapolis; Toronto, Ontario; Montreal, Quebec and Fayetteville, Ark. from Reagan National on July 11.  Following the start of these flights, the airline will have launched new daily, nonstop service on a total of 22 routes from Washington’s downtown airport this year – connecting communities of all size to the nation’s capital.
