There is no shortage of places to go even just within Mexico but there are a few that you should take notice of. If you are flying into Cancun, we recommend going straight from Cancun Airport to Playa del Carmen to relax on the beach after your long flight.
You can even choose to snorkel, zipline or play some golf before having dinner with a sunset view. The next day you can take a 2-hour car ride to Chichén Itzá to learn about the history of the Mayan ruins and the Yucatan peninsula as a whole.
To continue your historical exploration, you can head over to Merida. Merida has a lot of standard tourist attractions such as museums, markets, casinos, archaeological sites, zoos and even more ruins.
However, our favorites are the cenotes which are truly a one-of-a-kind swimming and diving experience.
Other notable places to visit throughout the Yucatan peninsula are places like Xcaret Park, Aktun Chen, Playa Akumal and Bacalar Lagoon. You can easily find transportation within the country to fulfill all your traveling needs from luxury cars to boat tours.
2. Weather
Everyone knows that going to Mexico is all about relaxing on the beach and enjoying the happening nightlife at island parties. This is because when most countries are experiencing grueling winters, Mexico is enjoying perfect summer weather.
The best time to visit the country is during its dry season which lasts for a very long time and usually runs from December to the beginning of April. This is also the time when most tourist attractions are open to the public due to high demand.
You can go during January or March to ensure fewer crowds and a better experience.
However, extending your trip past May is not recommended because you won’t be able to enjoy much with pouring rain and the approaching hurricane season.

Mexico is a country so rich in culture that there is always something fun and exciting going on no matter the time you visit. There are always many great festivals and event celebrations happening around the country that any trip will be easily memorable.
